Organization that gives support to the bone cancer patients


MAKNA

MAKNA (Majlis Kanser Nasional or the National Cancer Council) pool and utilise every effort, skill and financial aid from society, and to fight cancer and reduce the related pain, suffering and morbidity that cancer patients and their families often experience. MAKNA focus on:
a)       MAKNA Bursary Programme provides financially-challenged cancer patients the required support such as treatment cost.
b)       The purchase of cancer-related medication and treatment at the Institut Kanser MAKNA - Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (IKM-PPUKM).
c)       MAKNA Cancer Research (ongoing since 2001) provides information, technology and development in finding cure for cancer.
d)       To provide consistent cancer awareness and education programmes to educate and promote an understanding of a healthy lifestyle.
e)       To conduct fund-raising Projects.
f)        To raise sufficient funds for cancer-related services to the community.
g)   To provide screening and early diagnostic facilities to enable early detection of cancer.
h)       To provide cancer information effectively to all levels of society. 
i)         To encourage, support and conduct research on cancer, which could lead to innovative treatment approaches.
j)        Young Cancer Survivor Scholarship, which aims to support young cancer survivors wishing to further their studies.
k)       Volunteer Community Outreach Programme, which is useful for building and maintaining civil society, a sphere of organized activities are implemented in raising the quality of life.



Malaysia Anti-cancer Association











First, to reduce the incidence of cancer and to provide the most convenient and consulting services to the cancer patients and their families for the resources needed, in addition to health care, including social resources and psychological support systems. Therefore, we actively assist the Ministry of Health plans to make public in the shortest possible time-period, the most convenient side arms, all stages of the disease to adapt to meet the different needs, to ease the impact of cancer.

Second, the integration of social resources, so that anti-cancer operations can be sustainable. However, cancer prevention is a long-term, we must invest a lot of manpower and material resources, such as rely on the efforts of a few units, not only limited success, it will also be unsustainable. In view of the medical resources are limited, so we also actively integrating government and community groups that force, we will use the operation of marketing and public relations, coupled with media and e-commerce, far-reaching power of hope in cancer prevention open up new areas.

Third, set up an advisory hotline and e-mail, health care professionals in response to inquiries from the general public, families of cancer patients cum on cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, etc. of the problem. Education advocacy, counseling, medical information inquiries, providing health care throughout the community and consulting services.

Fourth, the twenty-first century is a century of information, but also a century of electronic marketing. Therefore, in our website, monthly cancer knowledge, reference for health care workers and public inquiries. Cancer will also be issued a newsletter every month to the general public can get the latest cancer knowledge.
 

Fifth, the government and the community will welcome the generous Donation, join the festivities, boundless. The project will be set up of fundraising, internal fundraising, the Foundation’s investment program.



The Association of Clinical Registries in Malaysia (ACRM)



The Association of Clinical Registries in Malaysia (ACRM) was established in 2005. It was conceived through the joint efforts of a variety of Health and IT professionals with an interest in the development of clinical databases and disease registers in Malaysia. 
The establishment of the society was motivated by increasing awareness of the huge untapped potential of clinical databases and disease registers to serve as a powerful tool for public health surveillance, health outcomes management, healthcare quality improvement and cost containment.
 

The Association was therefore established to:
1.    Promote and support implementation of specific clinical registries for priority diseases or therapeutic areas in Malaysia.
2.    Foster the judicious application of clinical registries to disease surveillance, health outcomes management, healthcare quality improvement and healthcare cost containment.
3.    Provide a forum for debating issues arising from implementation of clinical registries.
4.    Improve communication and collaboration among clinicians, clinical epidemiologists and researchers, clinical IT professionals and healthcare managers on clinical registry related issues.
 
The activities of the association shall include:
§  Promotion and membership drive
§  Development and maintenance of the website which serves as a portal to clinical databases in Malaysia
§  Publication of electronic newsletter
§  Bibliography services for Clinical Registries/database literature
§  Annual seminar on Clinical Registries/databases
§  Trainning programmes
§  Focal point for collaborative research
§  Preferential rates for members on courses conducted by CRC
§  Free listing on ACRM website



National cancer society of Malaysia
·        The Society seeing the needs of the accommodation for cancer patients coming to Kuala Lumpur for radiation treatment assisted them by providing rooms in various hotels around the General Hospital. Later the Society refurbished two of the old Tai Wah wards and provided 80 hostel type accommodation for patients coming to Kuala Lumpur for treatment. Later when the Tai Wah wards were taken over by the authorities, the Ambulant Cancer Ward in the General Hospital was taken over and run by the Society until handed over to the Ministry of Health a few years back.
        The Society provides financial assistance to cancer patients and their families when recommended by the Medical Social Workers at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital UKM, Cheras.
Launching grants were also given to help set up hospice movements in Klang, Melaka, Kelantan, Sarawak and Sabah:
~          The Society took part in Public Education Programme where exhibitions, talks, seminars and lectures are held. The Society also prints pamphlets on cancer which are distributed free to schools, associations and institutions in order to improve the awareness of the public;
~        The Society is also participated in Medical Education Programmes where talks and lectures are given by eminent specialists from overseas who are invited annually to the medical professionals to update them on the latest trends in the management of cancer patients.



Association of private hospitals in Malaysia
                   (Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia, 2008)

The Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia is more commonly known as APHM. It is representing private hospitals and medical centers in Malaysia. The Association has been in existence since 1972 and has over 100 members throughout Malaysia currently.
APHM member hospitals are key partners with the public sector healthcare providers in bringing comprehensive medical care to all Malaysians through its member hospitals.
The APHM plays an important role in helping to raise standards of medical care within the country. Some of the activities geared towards this objective include :-
  • Working dialogues with public sector agencies including Ministry of Health Malaysia
  • Participate in National working groups such as MPC, MITI and MATRADE actively.
  • Provide trainning programs for all Healthcare providers which include the yearly Conference and Exhibition and regular smaller group workshops on clinical and administrative / managerial topics.
  • Promotion of Health Tourism Activities regionally and internationally with the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC)
